Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the militant attack targeting non-local labourers in the Ganderbal district. The attack, which took place on the evening of 20 October, left multiple workers injured. These labourers were working on construction projects when militants opened fire, leading to widespread panic.
CM’s Response and Condemnation
In a public statement, CM Omar Abdullah expressed deep concern over the increasing attacks on non-local workers. He referred to the attack as an attempt to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the importance of ensuring safety for those contributing to the region’s development. Abdullah also extended his sympathies to the families of the victims, urging authorities to take strict action against the perpetrators.
Security Measures Intensified
In response to the attack, the J&K government has heightened security, especially in areas where migrant workers are employed. As reported by The Hindu, authorities have been instructed to coordinate with security forces to prevent future incidents and increase patrolling in vulnerable areas. The Chief Minister reassured the public that such violent attempts to create fear will not deter the government’s efforts to bring peace and development to the region.
