Omar Abdullah is set to take his oath today as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
The event marks the return of an elected government after nearly a decade. Security has been significantly increased in and around the venue, with local police and paramilitary forces ensuring smooth proceedings.
Dignitaries, including national leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee, are expected to attend the ceremony, highlighting its political importance.

Ahead of the ceremony, he visited his grandfather Sheikh Abdullah’s grave to offer prayers. In his statements, Omar highlighted the responsibility of his government, saying, “We have a lot to do.” He aims to restore hope and focus on the people’s needs, emphasizing the importance of regaining statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.
