In a disturbing case, Delhi police have arrested an unemployed pilfer by making bomb threats to homes on a few flights.
The accused, whose name is not being revealed, was believed to be doing this to create chaos and bringing attention, bringing security measures up and disrupting schedules in many airlines. Initial enquiries suggest man then took the actions he did due to personal frustrations and financial issues, and created alarm to get attention.
Details of the Bomb Threats
Police sources said the suspect sent a string of bomb threats targeting flights in and around major airports. They communicated threats by email or other digital platforms, and prompt emergency responses by airport security.
Authorities carried out thorough checks so air passengers would be safe and several flights were delayed and rerouted.
Motivation Behind the Threats
Those threatening have been accused of orchestrating the threats while in prolonged unemployment and dealing with personal issues, in order to seek attention.
The threats did not accompany questions related to demands, but the man, who was prohibited from operating a vehicle, hoped to cause disruption to draw attention to his grievances, according to law enforcement officials. What he is doing is part of a growing focus on mental health issues and the problems it can create when finances are tight.
Law Enforcement Response
The offence was quickly tracked down by Delhi police working in tandem with cybercrime units. A digital trail ultimately led police to the accused and authorities are now making further inquiries to find out whether he was acting alone, and if so, whether he had any accomplices.
Officials have also stressed the seriousness of bomb threats, saying that the incidents generate costly security risks, extend to passengers with panic while airport crew staff.
Legal Implications
The accused has been slapped with charges under strict sections of the Indian Penal Code for creating public mischief, causing panic and endangering lives by virtue of them levelling baseless threats.
