The Jammu and Kashmir government had launched a new initiative aimed at empowering girl students by providing free scooters. This scheme encourages girls to pursue their education and promotes independence.
To qualify, applicants must be state subjects, have achieved at least 65% marks in their 10+2 exams, and be at least 18 years old. Additionally, they must possess a valid learner’s or driving license.
The yearly family income should not exceed ₹4,00,000.Eligible students will need to cover 50% of the scooter’s cost, while the government will fund the remaining amount.
Each applicant must also agree not to resell or use the scooter for commercial purposes for five years.The initiative aims to enhance mobility for girls in the region, enabling better access to education and job opportunities.
