In a major decision aimed at ensuring food security, the National Conference (NC) government in Jammu and Kashmir has announced that it will double the ration quota for residents across the Union Territory.
The decision was confirmed by a senior cabinet minister, Saya, during a recent press conference. This initiative is expected to benefit a large section of the population, particularly those in rural and economically weaker areas.
The increased ration quota is part of the government’s broader strategy to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the people. With a focus on welfare programs, the NC government has pledged to improve the distribution of essential commodities like rice, wheat, and other food grains under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
By doubling the quota, the administration aims to ensure that no household faces food shortages, especially in the face of rising prices and economic challenges.
The cabinet minister further elaborated that the decision would be implemented immediately, ensuring that the increased rations reach every corner of the Union Territory. The move has been welcomed by various sections of the population, with many seeing it as a step towards more inclusive governance.
This decision aligns with the NC government’s overall approach to focus on welfare schemes, addressing the basic needs of the people, and promoting economic stability in the region. It also strengthens the party’s commitment to social justice and equitable distribution of resources.
